Kadugli – Sudan Now | 19 February 2026
3 aid workers were killed in a drone attack that targeted humanitarian trucks carrying food supplies in the Kartala area of South Kordofan state, according to eyewitness accounts.
Eyewitnesses said the convoy was en route to deliver aid to the cities of Kadugli and Dilling when it came under attack, resulting in fatalities and disrupting the delivery of food supplies to the affected areas.
Local sources added that the convoy was part of humanitarian efforts following attempts in recent years to break the siege imposed on the two cities, as the region continues to suffer from a severe shortage of food and basic services.
The incident underscores the growing risks faced by humanitarian workers amid the ongoing conflict with warnings that attacks on aid convoys could further hinder the delivery of assistance to civilians.
The attack comes after a similar incident on 6 February this month when a convoy belonging to the World Food Programme was hit by a drone strike in North Kordofan state while transporting food aid, killing one person and injuring others, and prompting widespread international condemnation.
United Nations agencies have repeatedly warned that targeting humanitarian convoys or obstructing aid deliveries exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, particularly in the Kordofan and Darfur regions, which face high levels of food insecurity.
