Khartoum — Sudan Now | January 14, 2026
The Sudan Doctors Network announced that five people were killed and 13 others injured after a guided drone operated by the RSF targeted “Kartala” market in the Nuba Mountains area of South Kordofan state on Sunday morning, confirming that all the victims were civilians who were inside the market at the time of the attack.
In its statement, the network condemned the direct targeting of civilians, holding the RSF leadership fully responsible for the attack and its consequences, and said the incident constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the rules governing the protection of civilians.
The network called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take urgent steps to protect civilians in conflict areas and to pressure the RSF leadership to halt systematic attacks on markets and residential neighborhoods.
The network reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to monitor the health situation and provide medical support to the injured, urging all parties to spare civilians and civilian infrastructure and to work toward opening safe corridors to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected, particularly in areas of South Kordofan that have been under siege for more than two years.
