Khartoum – Sudan Now | March 29, 2026
The Sudan Doctors Network said that 14 people, including five children and two women, were killed and 23 others injured, among them seven children, as a result of shelling that targeted the city of Dilling in South Kordofan state.
The network added in a statement that the attacks were attributed to the RSF and the SPLM–N (Abdelaziz al-Hilu faction), noting that the shelling struck residential areas, leading to the reported number of casualties.
It said the city has been subjected to heavy shelling for the second consecutive day, alongside attacks on the outskirts of Dilling, which recently emerged from a siege that lasted more than two years, amid humanitarian and health conditions it described as difficult, and a shortage of medical staff.
The network condemned what it described as the targeting of civilians, considering the shelling a violation of international humanitarian law, and warned of worsening conditions and the potential escalation of the humanitarian crisis in the city.
The network called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to halt the attacks and provide protection for civilians, and held the leadership of the RSF and the SPLM–N responsible for the incident.
No immediate comment was issued by the parties concerned regarding the allegations contained in the statement.
The city of Dilling and wide areas of South Kordofan state have witnessed an escalation in military operations in recent months, with repeated shelling of residential areas and civilian casualties reported.
Since the outbreak of war in Sudan in April 2023, areas of Kordofan have faced deteriorating humanitarian conditions, with shortages in health and food services and growing numbers of displaced people as fighting continues.
