Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the presentation of any proposals regarding war and peace in the country does not imply their automatic acceptance, stressing that the government will address any initiatives in line with the supreme national interest, full sovereignty and the unity of the country’s territory.
This came in a statement by the ministry commenting on remarks by Massad Boulos, Adviser for African and Middle East Affairs at the White House, regarding proposals he said he had presented to the country’s leadership on issues of war and peace in Sudan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that any initiatives to end the war must take into account Sudan’s national security, the unity of state institutions, and the integrity of its territory, stressing that proposals that do not meet these criteria “will not receive government approval and will not be implemented.”
The statement added that Sudan is a sovereign state that makes its decisions based on its national interests, affirming its rejection of any interference in internal affairs or attempts to impose ideas that do not respect national sovereignty.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry’s remarks come amid increasing international efforts to propose initiatives to end the war, which has been ongoing since April 2023 between the army and the RSF, amid global pressure to push for a ceasefire and launch a comprehensive political process.
