Muglad – Sudan Now | December 25, 2025
The Sudan Doctors Network reported that forces affiliated with the RSF have detained 29 girls and 73 women in the city of Muglad, West Kordofan State, following the takeover of Babanusa. The network stated that the detainees were forcibly transferred and are being held under extremely dire humanitarian and health conditions.
In a press statement, the network said the detentions were carried out on allegations that the detainees’ relatives are affiliated with the Sudanese Armed Forces. It explained that the women and children are being held in conditions that lack even the most basic healthcare, food, and psychological support, exposing them to serious health risks, particularly amid the absence of medical services and the spread of epidemics.
The network stressed that the detention of women and children constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and all conventions that prohibit the targeting of civilians or their use as a means of pressure in armed conflicts, holding the leadership of the RSF fully responsible for the safety of the detainees.
The Sudan Doctors Network called for the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees, ensuring their safe return to their families, and urged that humanitarian and medical organizations be granted urgent access to provide the necessary care.
The United Nations has also urged international and regional organizations to take responsibility and pressure the RSF’ leadership to stop these violations and provide protection for civilians, especially women and children.
