AL-MAZROUB – A local emergency response group in North Kordofan has accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of imposing forced levies on civilians and evacuating Al-Mazroub Hospital to use it for treating wounded RSF fighters, warning of a worsening humanitarian situation in the town.
The Dar Hamar Emergency Room said in a statement that RSF personnel demanded 100,000 Sudanese pounds from every shop in Al-Mazroub under threat of force. It also alleged that residents were ordered to provide 150 donkeys in good condition.
The group further alleged that RSF fighters forced patients and civilians to leave the town’s hospital before converting the facility into a treatment center for wounded members of the force, warning that the move has deprived hundreds of civilians of access to essential healthcare.
Healthcare facilities across Sudan have repeatedly been affected by the conflict since April 2023, with hospitals damaged, occupied or forced to suspend operations in several conflict-affected areas, further limiting access to medical services for civilians.
The emergency room condemned what it described as violations against civilians and held the RSF responsible for the deteriorating humanitarian and living conditions in Al-Mazroub.
The allegations come as humanitarian organizations continue to warn of worsening conditions in North Kordofan, where renewed fighting has displaced civilians and disrupted access to healthcare, food supplies and humanitarian assistance.
The Dar Hamar Emergency Room called on humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to protect civilians. It also appealed to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied forces to act to stop the alleged violations and secure the town.
The RSF did not immediately comment on the allegations.
