The official spokesperson of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Asim Awad, announced the destruction of a number of drones and air defense systems belonging to the RSF in various areas across Kordofan and Darfur.
Awad said the armed forces carried out precision operations that resulted in the destruction of drones and air defense systems, including the FK-2000 system, after they were detected in operational mode and at full combat readiness. He noted that the strikes were conducted with high accuracy and from beyond the effective range of these systems.
He added that the operations also included the destruction of storage facilities and operational units linked to the drones and air defense systems, as part of efforts to undermine the non-conventional aerial capabilities relied upon by the RSF.
He explained that the images released by the army document the destruction of Chinese-made CH-95 drones, along with air defense systems that had been deployed in areas of Darfur and Kordofan to bolster those forces’ capabilities against airstrikes.
According to Awad, these operations underscore the ability of the Sudanese Air Force to detect and accurately destroy mobile targets, regardless of their level of technological sophistication.
The use of drones and air defense systems in the Sudanese conflict has escalated in recent months, as the warring parties increasingly rely on unconventional means to compensate for shortcomings in air capabilities.
The states of Kordofan and Darfur have witnessed sustained military operations since the outbreak of the war in April 2023, amid mutual accusations of using advanced weaponry and targeting both military and civilian sites.
