Dilling – Sudan Now | 16 February 2026
The RSF and the SPLM–N have continued to target infrastructure and public facilities in the city of Dilling, with the destruction of “Al-Humeira” Girls’ Primary School, according to field sources and eyewitnesses.
This move comes as part of a series of recent attacks targeting educational institutions in the region. The destruction affected the school’s buildings and facilities, rendering it out of service and depriving hundreds of female students of access to education, according to the sources.
The information indicated that the attack was not the first of its kind. Earlier damage had been reported to the city’s education office, which serves as the administrative hub of the educational process in Dilling.
Damage also extended to “Ali Al Karrar” (Al Amiriya) School, where its infrastructure was vandalized, according to eyewitnesses.
Eyewitnesses reported that service facilities were directly targeted, leading to the disruption of several vital services in the city of Dilling.
Activists and educators in South Kordofan condemned the targeting of educational institutions, describing it as a violation of civilians’ rights and of international laws that protect educational facilities during armed conflicts.
The city of Dilling in South Kordofan has been experiencing intermittent security tensions amid the widening armed conflict in Sudan, adversely affecting basic services and infrastructure, including the education sector.
International organizations warn that targeting schools and educational facilities during conflicts disrupts the learning process and increases the vulnerability of local communities, particularly in areas affected by the war since the outbreak of fighting in April 2023.
