Al-Tina – Sudan Now
At least nine people, including two women, were killed and 55 others injured in a drone strike carried out by the Rapid Support Forces targeting a market in the town of Al-Tina in North Darfur on Sunday, according to a medical source.
The source told Sudan Now that the strike hit the market during peak daytime activity, resulting in a high number of civilian casualties.
The injured were transferred to local medical centers for treatment amid concerns that the death toll could rise because of critical injuries, the source said.
Medical teams were operating under what the source described as extremely difficult conditions, with mounting pressure on health facilities and shortages of equipment needed to treat severe cases.
The attack comes amid increasing strikes on civilian areas in Darfur as fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF continues across several regions of the country.
Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned of worsening conditions for civilians in Darfur, where attacks on markets, displacement camps and residential areas have intensified during the conflict that began in April 2023.
