Khartoum – Sudan Now
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned that damage to water infrastructure caused by Sudan’s war is putting millions of children at risk, as disrupted water supplies and failing essential services deepen the country’s humanitarian crisis.
In a statement shared by UNICEF Sudan, the agency said three years of conflict have damaged water systems, disrupted critical public services and reduced access to safe drinking water for communities across the country.
Samuel Godfrey, UNICEF Sudan’s Chief of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), said access to clean and safe water remains a lifeline for children and families affected by the conflict, warning that unreliable water and energy supplies are worsening living conditions for millions.
