EL OBEID – The Dar Hamar Emergency Room accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of carrying out a series of violations against civilians in the town of Umm Badr, West Kordofan State, including arbitrary detentions, shutting down the local market and disrupting communications.
In a statement, the volunteer emergency group said an RSF force arriving from the Al-Mashrou area west of Umm Badr entered the town, detained several civilians, ordered the closure of the market and disabled internet communications by shutting down Starlink services.
The Emergency Room said the measures disrupted daily life and commercial activity, while creating what it described as a climate of fear among residents.
The group added that military aircraft and armed drones later struck part of the RSF force, claiming that several of its members were killed. It did not provide further details, and Sudan Now could not independently verify the claim.
The Emergency Room called on national and international human rights organizations to document what it described as violations committed against civilians in Umm Badr and to monitor the humanitarian situation in the area.
The RSF has not commented on the allegations.
Fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF has intensified across North and West Kordofan in recent months as both sides seek control of strategic towns and supply routes. The renewed clashes have forced thousands of civilians to flee and disrupted access to markets, healthcare and humanitarian assistance.
Human rights organizations and U.N. agencies have repeatedly accused parties to the conflict of violating international humanitarian law, including attacks on civilians, arbitrary arrests, looting and restrictions on humanitarian access. The RSF has previously denied allegations that it deliberately targets civilians.
