EL OBEID – The Sudan Doctors Network said four civilians were killed and several others injured after Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters attacked the Al-Tumaid area in North Kordofan on Thursday evening, alleging that the attackers also looted residents’ property.
In a statement, the network said the assault was carried out by RSF fighters riding motorcycles and described it as part of a pattern of attacks targeting civilians in the area. It alleged that the raid was intended to spread fear among residents and force them to flee their homes.
The attack comes as military operations continue across North Kordofan, where the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied Joint Force units have recently expanded operations to retake areas previously controlled by the RSF, prompting reports of renewed violence in several localities.
The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the attack and called for an immediate end to violence against civilians, urging all parties to spare communities from the effects of the conflict.
Since the war began in April 2023, the Sudanese government, as well as local and international human rights organizations, have accused the RSF of committing widespread abuses against civilians, including unlawful killings, looting, forced displacement, arbitrary detention and attacks on villages, healthcare facilities, markets and other civilian infrastructure. The RSF has denied responsibility for many of the allegations.
The network also called on the international community and regional organizations to increase pressure on the RSF leadership to end alleged violations and ensure accountability for crimes committed against civilians.
