Khartoum – Sudan Now

Nearly 34 million people in Sudan will require humanitarian assistance in 2026, marking an unprecedented level of need, according to the latest Sudan Humanitarian Response Dashboard published by United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Humanitarian partners are seeking $2.9 billion to provide life-saving assistance to more than 20 million people across the country, the dashboard showed.

The figures come as Sudan continues to face one of the world’s largest displacement and humanitarian crises following the outbreak of war in April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.

According to the update, around 9 million people received humanitarian assistance between January and April this year. However, only 7% of those assisted received multi-sector support.

The report said insecurity, access constraints and funding shortages continue to hinder humanitarian operations and limit the expansion of aid delivery in several parts of the country.

Data published on the dashboard showed major gaps in funding across key sectors, including health, food security, shelter and protection services.

The Sudan Humanitarian Response Dashboard is regularly updated by humanitarian agencies to track aid coverage, funding levels and operational challenges across the country.
