AL-TINA – The Sudanese Armed Forces and the Joint Force took control of Bir Kilikil in West Darfur on Tuesday morning after clashes with the Rapid Support Forces, a military source said.

The source said SAF and Joint Force troops repelled RSF forces and secured full control of the area, claiming the RSF suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment.

No detailed casualty figures were provided, and the source did not give further information about the operations that preceded the reported takeover.

Sudan Now could not independently verify control of Bir Kilikil or the losses claimed by the military source. The RSF had not immediately commented on the developments.

The reported advance comes amid intensified military operations across several fronts, particularly in North and West Kordofan, where the SAF and RSF have been fighting for control of strategic areas and routes linking central Sudan with Darfur.

Fighting has also intensified in parts of North and West Darfur in recent weeks, including areas near the Chadian border, as the rival forces and their allies seek to strengthen their positions.

Military activity has also increased in Blue Nile, where clashes and drone attacks have contributed to further civilian displacement.
