KAMPALA – A total of 204 Sudanese nationals returned voluntarily from Uganda to Sudan on two flights over the weekend, according to the Sudanese Embassy in Kampala.
The embassy said the returnees traveled on the 22nd and 23rd voluntary return flights, which operated on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026.
The operation was organized in cooperation with the Al-Amal Committee for the Voluntary Return of Sudanese Refugees as part of ongoing efforts to facilitate the return of Sudanese who wish to go back to the country.
The embassy said the flights were carried out in coordination with Sudan’s Foreign Ministry and the Ugandan government.
It added that it would continue working with Sudan’s High Committee for Voluntary Return and Reintegration, the Foreign Ministry and other relevant institutions, alongside Ugandan authorities, to support further returns.
The embassy said its efforts were focused on ensuring the safe and dignified return of Sudanese refugees from Uganda.
The latest flights come as authorities and humanitarian actors continue arranging voluntary returns from neighboring countries for Sudanese who fled the war.
Sudan’s conflict has displaced millions of people inside the country and across its borders since fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted in April 2023.
The embassy did not provide details on the states or areas of origin of the 204 returnees, nor did it outline the reception and reintegration arrangements awaiting them after their arrival in Sudan.
