The Sudanese Ministry of Interior and South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced measures to address practical issues affecting citizens of both countries, focusing on residency, document renewal, entry and exit procedures, as well as related legal and administrative arrangement.
As part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation, South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mandy Semia Kumba, discussed with Sudan’s Minister of Interior, Police Lieutenant General Babiker Samra, the shared challenges related to residency and immigration matters.
The discussions took place during a meeting focused on addressing the procedural and administrative obstacles faced by citizens of both countries.
Both sides agreed that the competent authorities in each country would handle these matters directly, using technical and administrative coordination mechanisms aimed at reducing complications and providing practical solutions.
According to Amq ALHadath newspaper, the two ministers emphasized the importance of exchanging official visits between the relevant institutions and revitalizing the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between Juba and Khartoum.
The meeting comes amid repeated calls from citizens to ease travel and residency procedures, ensuring smoother movement within clear legal frameworks.
Issues related to movement and residency between the two countries have become increasingly sensitive, particularly in light of the administrative and legal challenges faced by citizens.
