Kadugli – Sudan Now | 28 December 2025
Reliable sources have reported a military buildup by forces of the RSF militia, alongside their ally, the SPLM-N, in the Al-Darnqas area, located between Brno and Al-Qawarir in South Kordofan State. The buildup is estimated at more than 70 military vehicles, mostly ”Cruiser–type” vehicles.
According to sources, these forces are reportedly preparing to launch a possible attack on the city of Kadugli within the coming hours either today or, at the latest, tomorrow, amid intensified movements in the area.
Sources indicated that the force stationed in Al-Darnqas is composed entirely of members of the Rizeigat tribe, with Hawazma members excluded due to concerns over potential information leaks. They also noted the presence of an individual named Hussein Barsham within the force, described as serving as a field guide to the route leading to the city.
According to the Jibal Nubia platform, the SPLM–N forces are stationed in the Keiga Al-Kheil area, with their vehicles estimated at more than 20 Cruisers, in what is believed to be a field-level coordination between the two sides as part of joint movements around Kadugli.
South Kordofan state, particularly the areas surrounding the city of Kadugli, has been witnessing recurrent military tensions, alongside the presence of SPLM–North forces in several mountainous areas of the state.
Kadugli is strategically important as the state capital and a key administrative and military center, which makes it a recurrent target for military movements, amid fears of widespread humanitarian consequences if new confrontations break out.
