Kosti – One person was killed and five others were injured after a drone strike hit a fuel station in the city of Kosti in Sudan’s White Nile State on Thursday, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.

The network attributed the attack to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), describing it as a deliberate strike on civilian infrastructure. It also reported drone attacks on the towns of Umm Rawaba and Al-Rahad in North Kordofan State, saying the targeted areas had no military presence.

The latest incidents come amid an increase in drone attacks on towns and infrastructure across several Sudanese states, raising concerns about the impact on civilians and essential services.

The Sudan Doctors Network said continued attacks on civilian facilities and infrastructure constitute a serious violation and further aggravate humanitarian conditions for residents already affected by more than three years of conflict.

Since the outbreak of war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF in April 2023, humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned of the consequences of attacks on markets, health facilities, power infrastructure and fuel installations, which play a critical role in sustaining civilian life.

The network called on the international community and relevant organizations to increase pressure on RSF leaders to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, including health and service facilities, and to halt attacks on residential neighborhoods and markets.

The group said it would continue monitoring and documenting alleged violations and assessing the impact of the conflict on civilians and health services across Sudan.

There was no immediate comment from the RSF regarding the allegations.

The conflict in Sudan has triggered one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises, displacing millions of people and severely disrupting access to healthcare, water, electricity and other essential services in many parts of the country.
