NORTH KORDOFAN – The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) said its air defenses shot down an FH-95 drone on Sunday morning west of Tina in North Kordofan.
In a statement issued by the army’s General Command on Sept. 27, 2026, the SAF described the aircraft as a hostile drone but did not identify who launched it.
The military said the drone was intercepted by air defense units during ongoing operations in North Kordofan.
The latest announcement comes amid intensified fighting and increased use of drones across the region, where the army and allied forces have reported a series of recent advances against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The SAF has also announced several interceptions of FH-95 drones in North Kordofan in recent weeks, including incidents around Al-Kukayti.
The army did not provide details on whether the latest drone caused damage or casualties before it was brought down.
Sudan Now could not independently verify the circumstances of the interception or the origin of the aircraft.
