KADUGLI – Eight Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters, including field commanders, were killed in clashes with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu in South Kordofan, local sources reported.
The clashes broke out on Saturday in the Jakama area, which is under SPLM-N control, the sources said.
Those killed were identified as Al-Nour Adam Al-Daw, known as Al-Nour Kaji Dar Fayed, Al-Sir Adam Al-Daw, Mohammed Hujeir Al-Dom Dar, and Al-Zubair Khor Al-Dulaib.
The sources also named Mohammed Naway Abdelkarim, known as Himati, Abdullah Qaidoum Naway, Yaqoub Al-Mahdi Ismail, and Omar Hashi Abdelkarim among those killed.
The sources said the situation in the area remained tense after the clashes, with groups of RSF fighters reportedly fleeing toward the Sarfaya area.
Sudan Now could not independently verify the death toll, the identities of those killed or the circumstances surrounding the clashes.
Neither the RSF nor the SPLM-N Al-Hilu had issued an official comment on the developments.
The clashes come amid rising insecurity in South Kordofan, where the SPLM-N controls parts of the Nuba Mountains and fighting involving several armed actors has intensified in recent months.
The region has seen growing tensions around Kauda, Dilling, Kadugli and nearby areas, with civilians facing displacement, disrupted services and limited humanitarian access.
Sudan’s wider war between the army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, has increasingly intersected with local conflicts and armed movements in Kordofan, deepening insecurity across the region.
