EL OBEID – Sudanese Special Operations Forces said they had retaken control of Ayal Bakhit in West Kordofan’s Al-Khuwei locality, as fighting continued between the Sudanese army and allied forces on one side and the Rapid Support Forces on the other across several Kordofan fronts.
Mohamed Didan, spokesperson for the Special Operations Forces’ West Kordofan sector, announced the capture in a video recorded inside the area alongside fighters.
He did not provide details on the clashes, casualties or the size of the force involved.
The claim could not be independently verified, and the RSF had not issued an immediate response.
The announcement comes days after the Special Operations Forces said they carried out an operation on Nov. 3 around Kharq Al-Dud, north of Ayal Bakhit, targeting RSF positions as military activity intensified along the Al-Khuwei axis.
The army and allied Joint Force have also reported gains elsewhere in Kordofan.
On Nov. 5, they said they had taken Kazgeil, Abu Qaoud and Umm Somaima in North Kordofan, while operations also extended to Al-Hamadi in South Kordofan.
Earlier, on Nov. 3, army-allied forces said they had captured Umm Marahik in West Kordofan after clashes with the RSF.
The military had previously announced control of Al-Mazroub in North Kordofan on Oct. 2, following advances through Sodari, Umm Shurou and other areas.
The latest movements reflect a broader westward push from North Kordofan toward Al-Khuwei and Al-Nahud.
The areas are strategically important because they lie along routes linking North Kordofan with West Kordofan and Darfur, making them important for the movement of troops, supplies and military equipment.
Fighting across North, West and South Kordofan has intensified since late 2025, with front lines shifting between the outskirts of El Obeid, the Al-Khuwei and Al-Nahud axes and areas farther south.
