Brazzaville – Sudan Now

Gibril Ibrahim took part in a meeting of Electoral Group 15 during the 2026 annual meetings of the African Development Bank in Brazzaville, Sudan’s state news agency SUNA reported.

The electoral group includes Sudan, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Gabon.

Discussions focused on development financing, economic cooperation and increasing member states’ representation within the bank’s institutions, according to SUNA.

The meeting also reviewed economic challenges facing African countries amid regional and global economic pressures, including financing gaps, infrastructure needs and sustainable development priorities.

Sudan has sought to strengthen cooperation with regional and international financial institutions as the country faces a deep economic crisis linked to the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which erupted in April 2023.

During the meeting, Gibril stressed the importance of improving access to financing for development and infrastructure projects and enhancing coordination among member states, SUNA said.

Participants also exchanged views on economic reforms, domestic resource mobilization and investment policies aimed at supporting long-term economic growth across Africa.

Sudan’s participation in the African Development Bank meetings comes as authorities seek external support for reconstruction and economic recovery efforts amid worsening humanitarian and financial conditions in the country.
