DILLING – The Sudan Doctors Network said three people were killed and others injured after a drone it attributed to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) struck the market in Dilling, South Kordofan, on Friday evening.
The network said the drone also targeted trucks at the entrance to the city that were carrying consumer goods destined for Dilling market.
Sudan Now could not independently verify the casualty figures or the party responsible for the strike. The RSF did not immediately comment.
The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the targeting of civilian objects, markets and areas where civilians gather, as well as attacks on vehicles and trucks carrying food and consumer goods.
It said such attacks constitute violations of international humanitarian law and pose a direct threat to civilian lives, while also disrupting access to food and essential supplies in an area already facing difficult humanitarian conditions.
The reported strike comes amid escalating violence in South Kordofan, where civilians have been caught between multiple fronts involving the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the RSF and other armed actors. The wider war, which began in April 2023, has increasingly involved drones, long-range attacks and strikes on towns, roads and supply routes.
Dilling and surrounding areas in South Kordofan have faced repeated insecurity, displacement and shortages of basic services during the conflict. Markets and transport routes remain especially vulnerable because they are central to food supply, civilian movement and local livelihoods.
The network called on the international community, rights groups and humanitarian organizations to act urgently to stop attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
It also urged pressure on the RSF to halt attacks on markets, public facilities and civilian vehicles, and called on RSF commanders to comply with international humanitarian law and avoid targeting trucks carrying food and essential goods.
