KHARTOUM– U.S. Senior Adviser for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos reaffirmed Washington’s support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying the United States backs an inclusive Sudanese-led dialogue aimed at ending the war and advancing a transition toward a civilian-led government.

Boulos made the remarks after attending a luncheon hosted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in New Alamein City alongside Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, on the sidelines of an African Union coordination meeting.

He said the United States maintained a “steadfast position” in support of the Sudanese people and the preservation of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Boulos said Washington would continue working with Egypt and other regional and international partners to advance a political solution to the crisis, contribute to ending the war and alleviate humanitarian suffering, in line with calls by U.S. President Donald Trump.

He said those efforts were intended to help Sudan restore security and stability, begin reconstruction and development, and move through an inclusive national dialogue toward a civilian-led government.

The United States was ready to support efforts toward a comprehensive dialogue among Sudanese political forces, Boulos said, adding that such a process could lead to a preliminary roadmap for Sudan’s future.

He encouraged Sudanese actors to pursue an inclusive process and engage with regional and international stakeholders to coordinate positions and efforts toward a peaceful end to the conflict.

Boulos’ remarks came during high-level regional consultations in New Alamein, where Burhan also held talks with Sisi on developments in Sudan and efforts to end the war.

Egypt has reiterated its support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and national institutions while calling for a political settlement and an end to the humanitarian crisis.
